Comments:
This internship was awful. Not only was this work illegal (unpaid, yet clients were billed for interns' services), but 90% of it did not even involve working with the law. The majority of the assignments was marketing and advertising duties in the form of writing nonsensical newsletters and spamming people's e-mail accounts. The supervisor, Don Dao, taught nothing. He was just looking for free labor and DEMANDED that interns learn about the law by themselves. There was no sense of mentoring at this law office. He was rarely available for guidance whenever we interns needed help on how to fill out and file legal documents. He also doesn't care about his clients. Every single day, the same clients called, pleading to hear back from their attorney, yet Don--for some inexplicable reason--always brushed us off when we notified him of all the messages people were leaving for him.
If you're willing to work for free, at least choose a law firm with a supervisor who will mentor you. For the good of humanity and for your own sake, DO NOT intern for Don Dao. And for the sake of the U.S. economy, don't work for free.
